The American Forest Foundation works on-the-ground with families, teachers, and elected officials to promote stewardship and protect our nation’s forest heritage. Their new publication Walk in the Forest is a guide for promoting forests and forest management for children and adults. Forests are a natural learning environment to grow family bonds and share the great outdoors.
The guide steps you through the process of defining your goals and planning for a walk – be it for a classroom, teacher, adult group or forest landowners. It gives you helpful tips for working with children, and pre and post walk activities. Check out their website at http://www.forestfoundation.org/ . Under Resources and Publications you will find guide available for free download or printing. Under the Environmental Education tab you will find a link for family activities which contains many activities from Project Learning Tree to do with children, in the classroom or at home.
