Two scientists from the Montana Bureau of Mines and Geology (MBGM) recently visited the Flathead to present results from their investigation of the Valley’s subsurface geology and groundwater. In two events, co-sponsored by the Flathead River Commission, MBMG, FCD, Flathead Lakers, Flathead Valley Community College, and Haskill Basin Watershed Council, scientists James Rose and John Wheaton discussed the unique geology and hydrogeology beneath our feet and their implications for water supply. Public interest in our subsurface water resources was tremendous – approximately 75 people attended the Science on Tap event at Flathead Lake Brewery on April 5th and more than 250 people attended the presentation at FVCC on April 6th.
