You have are cordially invited to attend the Flathead County Local Working Group (LWG) meeting on Thursday March 31st from 1:00-3:00 at FVCC in room AT-144 A/B located in the Arts and Technology building. The LWG meeting is an annually held meeting , put together by the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and the Flathead Conservation District (FCD), where agency representatives, land owners, and other natural resource professionals gather to discuss the current conditions in Flathead County and challenges that private land owners are facing. The NRCS can use these identified resource concerns that land owners and managers are facing to try and request federal funds to provide financial assistance to address these resource concerns.

Since the last LWG was held in 2019, prior to COVID, the NRCS has been able to successfully get approval for 4 different targeted projects resulting from recommendations and partnerships from the LWG meeting along with a joint NRCS/USFS project that recently has been approved for funding. These 5 approved projects carry a total financial allocation of $5,848,275 that will be made available directly to private land owners for treatment of identified resource concerns.

Your attendance to the meeting is crucial to help identify further projects across Flathead County as we continue to try and help provide financial assistance to private land owners across the county.

To help us prepare the meeting space and be able to provide beverages and snacks, please RSVP by Wednesday March 23rd to NRCS District Conservationist Sean Johnson either at sean.johnson@usda.gov or at 406-309-3318.
